Taking Care of Your Toothbrush Is Important!

Posted .

A toothbrush is a tool that often gets overlooked. But taking care of it is so important! It makes such a difference in your daily oral hygiene. Luckily, it is very easy to take care of your toothbrush. Our team at AZ Dental would like to share with you a few tips to make sure your toothbrush stays in tip-top shape.

After brushing your teeth, clean your brush by running it under plain water to remove all food particles and debris from the brush. Store the brush upright in open air, as this allows the brush to dry out and reduces bacterial growth.

Do not store your toothbrush around other toothbrushes if you can avoid it. This could lead to cross-contamination and would require you to replace your toothbrush early. If you must store it around other brushes, make sure the heads do not touch.

Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months. When purchasing your new toothbrush, make sure to buy one with the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the package. This little logo indicates that the product has undergone (and passed!) rigorous testing for both safety and effectiveness. The seal cannot be be purchased– it must be earned! This ensures that you get a quality product that does what it says it does.
